If you go down to the woods today
You’re sure of a big surprise

The vision is for a building that reflects the act of coming together at the heart of the woods inviting the visitor to feel part of the wider Centenary Woods project. The landscape and the building create spaces for activities to take place – whether enjoying your own picnic, viewing the exhibitions, resting after a long walk or simply enjoying the views and natural landscape that Langley Vale has to offer.

The project succeeded in the top 20 shortlist out of 237 entries, the feedback complimented the design.

“The panel felt that this scheme offered something different from the other designs put forward. The large expanse of roof providing various flexible internal and external spaces was felt to be successful. The creation of pathways out into the site, linking the building to the landscape was well liked, as was the creation of solids and voids providing 360 degree views connecting visitors to the surrounding woodland and the views beyond.”
